The restorations, described

If photographs are hard for you to see, or you use a screen reader, this is what the work actually does.

The wedding portrait

A bride in lace with a cascade of lilies, her groom beside her, in a print gone the colour of tea and freckled with foxing across the veil and gown. We lifted the stains, closed the creases along the left edge and returned the dress to white — her smile reads exactly as it did.

The family of four

A studio portrait: father standing, mother seated with a lace collar, a girl with a posy and a boy in a tweed suit. The print was cracked into a web across every face and the corners had crumbled away. Each fracture was closed and the corners rebuilt from the backdrop.

Three generations on the porch

Fourteen people and a dog on farmhouse steps, in a print so faded and scuffed the faces had almost gone. We recovered the tone and detail — the overalls, the rocking chair, the grandmother’s print dress — without inventing a single feature.

The seated couple

A white-haired man with a moustache and watch chain beside his wife in a high-collared dark dress with a brooch. The print had torn clean across the middle, the corners were gone and the surface was a mesh of cracks. We rejoined the halves, rebuilt the missing edges and brought back the painted studio backdrop.

Mother and child

A young mother in a dark jacket holding her baby cheek to cheek, the print dog-eared, stained and crazed with fine cracks. We cleared the damage and recovered the curtain behind them — then, at the family’s request, colourised it: burgundy velvet, gold embroidery and a cream knit.

The picnic

A family of five on a blanket under the trees, in a seventies colour print faded to orange and creased down the middle. We restored the true colours — the blue jeans, the red-striped shirt, the tartan flask, the green of the park.
